My girlfriend and I decided to take a little trip a while back on the spur of the moment one Saturday morning. Jumped in the car on off to the ferry terminal for a short 15 minute trip over to Bowen Island. We had a free ferry pass that was qiven to us, but it’s only $20 or so with a car if we had to pay.

You can see our destination at the far left of the map. Bowen Island was once somewhere you could escape the hustle and bustle of Vancouver, but I’m thinking it’s backfiring a bit as too many people had the same idea and it can be quite the busy little community at times. We were first on the boat, so straight to the front for us!

I’m thinking there could be some pretty good skiing in and around these parts! (<<<< humour!>

And 15 minutes later, we were there,Snug Cove:
Once back onto dry land, it was a short 10-15 drive to southern end of the island:

I was told told by people I know who have played the golf course that its a good practice course, mainly because of the very small greens. There’s 2 par 5′s,4 par 4′s, and 3 par 3′s and we intended to go around twice. Off we go first hole:
The course looked great to me, and was in great shape, though early in the season at that point. Lots of trees as you’d expect, but fairly wide fairways.

Best shot of the day was one of my closest holes in one to date. Close, but no cee-gar!
As I mentioned we went around the course twice, and so we got to see the view from the 9th hole twice. You tee off and mid way down the fairway you get a good look at West Vancouver back on the mainland.

After easily walking the two rounds, we noticed the ferry was due soon so back we went into town to the terminal. Unfortunately, we missed it, dayum! What do you do but grab a coffee and wait around for the next one? It arrived soon enough and we were on our way home.
