What can you say about a course like this? Tobiano, been waiting for this one. Talk about well maintained, and everywhere you look,a picture just waiting to be taken. We’ll just blame it on the “awe” factor that finding the correct tee box was a bit of a problem. All the same colour? What were those labels: Tour,Iron,Spur,Lake and Sage? Well, we figured the “Lake” tee boxes were equivalent to white, so that’s what we played. If my first hole was any indication of things to come, I should have quit right there, not! Narrow, picturesque, so that’s why I probably never even touched that first fairway at all! Not a problem though, there was some room all the way down the right to play it that way…cough.

On we went, and I finally saw it. A par 3 through over a gully with a narrow grren to land on, cruel! I was told about this hole and I was ready. Look at this,is that not just nasty?

There were more holes to come like this too. Thankfully, par 4′s and 5′s, just get it over the damn canyon and you’re good. Here’s Henry giving it a go.

Some people aren’t too crazy about blind holes, but look at this layout! It’s built in the middle of nowhere, over hills, gullies, and the word of the day, arroyos. There were a few too many for me, but that’s only because it was the first time here.

What else was new was the golf course itself, only in its second full season. We had heard all the buzz about this, and knew a couple of people that had played it. And, here we were, hacking it up for ourselves, nice!

Can’t say enough of how pleased I was ( and the rest of the crew) for playing this golf course. Not only one of the most challenging courses I’ve played, and also one of the most eye-pleasing as well. Just stunning. We booked this course along with a couple of others as a package deal, but I’m pretty sure the rate is about $130 . I noticed that the power carts have the latest GPS systems as well as some sort of limiting sysytem on them that prevents you from going too close to the greens or the neighbouring fairway. I found that a bit annoying when it would just stop on us, but I can see the reasoning for it too.
Located just 25 minutes west of Kamloops right on the “old” #1 highway, it’s easy to find. I highly recommend trying this one, and I will be back one day. Its a bit far for a day trip from Vancouver, but two rounds in two days would be very doable.
